For six years, Lyda must endue the most ghastly and brutal environments imaginable, put there by invulnerable aliens for reasons of their own. After her first horrible experience in a barren desert, she vows that come what may, she will live, even while millions die, for she is determined to find what is behind such hideous treatment by the aliens.

In a world where enhanced animals have altered the ecology beyond repair, the great protective enclaves are beginning to be built, but there will be no refuge there for altered humans, nor for normal humans trying to protect their enhanced pets. A woman with feline genes, bred for sex slavery. A man who kills to protect his pet. Two truckers who don’t care about laws designed for the cities. All are on the run across a surreal landscape where their odyssey takes them into the dangerous wilds, along roads and highways rapidly becoming impassable, and into cities where they have to live as outlaws. There is a chance for them to find a normal life if they can survive long enough to be accepted as immigrants to the moon. But only two of them can go, and only if they aren’t caught first. Altered Humans is a novel set in the days before the pet plague reaches its peak, where society is in flux, where survival is for the strong, but where goodness and generosity can still be found—if you don’t die first.

As the children grow, their teachers and other institutions become very interested in the odd perceptive ability they begin displaying. Government, industry, military, drug cartels, businesses and the underworld all want to use them for their own purposes. Some of the young men and women have different ideas. Monitors face constant danger when they infiltrate and observe various cultures for possible violations of The Articles Of Hegemony. Nor did she ever think she would have to pose as a sex slave in order to save her life and that of her libido-enhanced companions.

Space Pets Space Pets

The Pet Plague began on earth with genetically engineered pets with near-human intelligence getting loose and practically overrunning the world, with perhaps the only chance for salvation a downed alien spaceship. Their quest is complicated by enemy humans aboard who want the ship for themselves and will use any means--including sexual seduction of Jamie--to capture it. Space Pets is an epic, erotic journey in search of a new home for humanity--but in the end it might turn out that earth is still the best the universe can offer, if only it can be tamed again! Watch for more stories to come in The Pet Plague Universe.

The Original Sex Gates Novel The Original Sex Gates Novel

Reviews

"Hotline to Heaven is simply hysterical! Parts of the book had me laughing so hard I had tears coming from my eyes. There's some romance, some mystery, an interesting plot, and a lot of publicity for the Salvation Army. All in all, a great book."
Reviewed by Rebecca Henderson, Amazon.com reviewer.

[Medics Wild!] "All the smells, sights and sounds of the Far East come alive in this fast paced novel. From the dreariness and boredom of every day existence to the sharp and terrifyingly sudden violence of the Tet offensive, Bain’s ability to transport you there never wavers. Readers who have never been there are treated to sights seldom seen by civilians. 'Nam vets will find themselves nodding with a bittersweet smile as they turn the pages. It's all there."
Reviewed by Mike Hargraves for East Texas TODAY's.

[Strange Valley] "...A city where residents don't get married and show no religious preference? What will happen to our cherished American values? Logically, Masterville becomes an imminent threat. Whether this scenario is a parody of our present government situation, the reader will have to decide.

Definitely a good story. The first chapter is fascinating and the subsequent ones maintain a high tempo of action and suspense that will keep you curious to the end. The science is believable and intelligently written. This book also deals with issues worth pondering. Darrell Bain is a name I will keep my eye on for future reviews. Five stars.
